Last week’s Auction Guide divided auction rooms into the familiar personalities of 3-pump and the saver. Some of you are boomers by nature, others just gotta go big and can’t help it. Fine. Either strategy can win — if you do it moneyball-ishly. The problem is you don’t know what opportunities will present until bidding starts so ya kinda need to be prepared for variations. For example, Ientered two auctions without knowing whether I’d bargain shop or go big, but I had a plan for either.
Draft No. 1: Five Pumps?
My Santiago draft goes nuts off the bat. Gibbs at $73, Bijan $70, Chase $66, JSN $58 and Josh Allen $40. That told me two things: I was not going to chase crazy prices for the top 3 of each position, and other people’s money burned up front would eventually come out...
