-- Travis Kelce's Snap Count to Remain Similar to Last Season --
Thu Jun 19, 2025 --from FFMastermind.com

ESPN reports Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid says he expects TE Travis Kelce’s snap counts will be similar to what it was last year, but he will monitor Kelce’s playing time as training camp and the season progress and change the plan if necessary. In the 2024 regular season, Kelce was on the field for the third-highest snap count (939) and ran the fourth-most routes (575) of his career, so this is good news for fantasy owners of Kelce.

-- Missouri Senate Passes Plan to Keep Both Chiefs & Royals --
Thu Jun 5, 2025 --from FFMastermind.com

NBC Sports reports the Missouri Senate, faced with the inevitability of the Chiefs and Royals leaving for Kansas, passed on Thursday morning a plan to keep both teams from leaving. The consensus was reached at a time when many doubted the ability of the Senate to strike a deal. The legislation, which devotes more than $1.5 billion to the football and baseball stadiums, was crafted at a special session called by governor Mike Kehoe. To get there, Senate Republicans increased the aid package for recent St. Louis tornadoes from $25 million to $100 million. This lured enough Democrats to support such a large expenditure for a pair of private businesses that arguably don’t need to be subsidized by taxpayers. Ultimately, the stadium effort prevailed by a vote of 19-13. The GOP-controlled House is expected to adopt the plan on Monday. For the Chiefs, Missouri will kick half of the $1.15 billion needed for renovations to Arrowhead Stadium. This doesn’t mean the deal is done. The Chiefs could still choose to go to Kansas, where a new stadium would be built. While the team’s lease runs through 2030, Kansas has said its offer expires on June 30.

Sat May 31, 2025 --from FFMastermind.com

A third lawsuit has now been filed against him. Kayla Quinn alleges that she and her son sustained physical and mental injuries when their car was struck during the race involving Rice. They sued both Rice and former SMU football player Theodore Knox. Quinn and her son seek between $250,000 and $1 million in damages. Two other lawsuits were filed against Rice and Knox in April 2024. They separately have been charged with multiple crimes. The prosecution is pending. The league does not plan to take action against Rice until the criminal case has ended.

-- Mahomes: Travis Kelce Looking Motivated --
Fri May 30, 2025 --from FFMastermind.com

NFL.com reports Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce doesn't look like a player heading into the sunset of his career. "If it's the last ride, you would never know," QB Patrick Mahomes said at organized team activities. "The way he's talking about football. The way he's talking about working and trying to be even better this year than he was last year. He doesn't seem like a guy like it's his last ride, like he's tired of the job." It would seem the 35-year-old Kelce is a motivated veteran at OTAs. "He's in here," Mahomes said. "He's working. I know his body feels good. I think he feels better than even last year before going into last season. I think he's motivated to go out there and have an even better year than he had this last."

The House of Representatives passed a stadium funding bill earlier in the week. The plan would pay for up to half of the costs for the projects through state-issued bonds. The measure stalled in the Senate. A special session is possible. Unless Missouri comes up with something, the Chiefs (and Royals) likely will cross the border to Kansas. The Chiefs aren’t holding any full-fledged practices at this point, but QB Patrick Mahomes said that Rice is doing well enough in their limited work that he’s set a high bar for the wideout. “The expectations are high,” Mahomes said. “He looks really good. We’ll just see how it goes going forward here. We don’t have them here on the field right now with us, so we’ve got to see the football part of it as we go.”

-- Chiefs Still Looking to Extend Trey Smith --
Thu Apr 17, 2025 --from FFMastermind.com

NBC Sports reports Kansas City Chiefs GM Brett Veach commented on one member of the offensive line who is already in place. They used the franchise tag on OG Trey Smith early in the offseason and have not signed him to a long-term deal. Veach said there have been some conversations about doing so and that he expects them to pick up in earnest once the draft is over. “Hopefully we get that done,” Veach said. “There is no lack of interest, will, or desire on our end. We did have a ton of talk at the Combine. Those conversations have continued on through the owner’s meetings. . . . We’ve exchanged multiple phone calls, multiple emails. My guess is once the draft’s over and our focus is back on taking care of the players that are here . . . I’m sure once things settle down on both ends, we will be able to continue this dialogue and hopefully make some progress there.” Smith has signed his tag, so he’s guaranteed a $23.4 million salary, and cap number, for the 2025 season.

"I think the biggest thing is that I f------ love playing the game of football," he said. "I love playing. I still feel like I can play it at a high level and possibly at a higher level than I did last year. I don't think it was my best outing. I think I let my guys down in a lot more moments than I helped them, especially if you look at my track record and how I've been in years past. I want to give it a good run. I got a bad taste in my mouth in how I ended last year and how well I was playing and how accountable I was to the people around me. I love so many people in Kansas City, both in that facility, in the community, and it's home for me now. I don't want to leave that life yet. I put in a lot of hard work and I put in a lot of focus into being the best that I can for K.C. Last year it didn't end well for us. I just feel like there's a responsibility in me to play out the contract that I initially signed, to give Kansas City and the Chiefs organization everything that I've got, and that's what I'm going to do, man."
