Week #2: Sunday Night Waiver Wire
Michael Nazarek - 9/10/2017

9/10/2017 - SUNDAY - 6:45 PM PT: The following waiver wire is a quick first look at certain players who could make a solid fantasy impact each Sunday night during the season. They may or may not be free agents in your league, but we want to ensure you know about them in order to have the first chance at a possible free agent acquisition. This list does NOT replace our free-agent feature released on Tuesday nights ("The Market"). You should consider it an abbreviated early-bird bonus list with a quick 1-2 lines of fantasy analysis. Note: This list is not an official ranking, but does represent our first thoughts for ranking these possible free agents. Our official free-agent rankings for the week will be released in Tuesday's "Market" feature...

QB Alex Smith, KC - With the addition of dynamic players Hunt and Hill, Smith blew up for 368 passing yards and 4 scores last Thursday night at New England. Anyone struggling at QB should seriously consider a pick up here.

QB Carson Wentz, PHI - Wentz played solid football today, making only one mistake (a pick), while throwing for 307 yards and two scores to beat the Redskins.

QB Tyrod Taylor, BUF - Granted it came against the Jets, but Taylor did throw for 224 yards with two scores and adding 38 rushing yards.

QB DeShone Kizer, CLE (r) - In his first NFL game, Kizer threw for 22 yards with a TD pass, a pick, and a TD run to boot at home against the Steelers. Not a bad debut!

QB Jared Goff, CLE - Goff looked much more comfortable today than at any point last season, throwing for 306 yards and a score against the hapless Colts at home.

QB Mike Glennon, CHI - He stood up to the Falcons defense, throwing for 213 yards and a TD without a pick, and nearly threw a game-winning score at the end without WR Cameron Meredith (knee) or an injured WR Kevin White (collarbone).

QB DeShaun Watson, HOU - Watson replaced an ineffective QB Tom Savage today, and it should only be a matter of time (perhaps this week), that he is officially named the new starter.

RB Kareem Hunt, KC - He scored more than 47 points in PPR leagues last Thursday night, so he should be your first fantasy free agent pickup if you drafted before mid-August.

RB Tarik Cohen, CHI (r) - He nearly shared touches equally with starting RB Jordan Howard today (13-16), and due to his small stature and speed, he looked much quicker. After today's performance, you can bet that Cohen will maintain a significant role moving forward in the team's offense.

RB Mike Gillislee, BUF - He scored three times last Thursday, and is the clear goal line back for the Patriots. He could scored upwards of 15+ times in 2017.

RB Javorius Allen, BAL - The loss of RB Danny Woodhead (hamstring) paid immediate dividends for Allen, whom entered the game and rushed for 71 yards on a whopping 21 carries. He got about 50% of the touches alongside starting RB Terrance West today. That could continue while Woodhead is out.

RB Kerwynn Williams, ARZ - With RB David Johnson (wrist) out, Williams scored today, but he is nowhere close to being a dynamic force. That said, he will start, but yield some pass-catching targets to RB Andre Ellington.

RB Mike Tolbert, BUF - He operated as the goal line back for the Bills today, also seeing action when RB LeSean McCoy was shaken up. He totaled 54 yards on 13 touches and a score against the Jets. If you own McCoy, you should pick up Tolbert.

RB Chris Thompson, WAS - With the Redskins behind most of the game, Thompson saw a lot of playing time today, totaling 56 yards on 7 touches with 4 catches and a score against the Eagles. He is definitely worthy of fantasy consideration in PPR leagues.

RB Marlon Mack, IND (r) - Mack debuted and scored a late TD in a blowout loss. While that won't earn him the starting job, it likely will earn him more playing time with the team struggling for any kind of offense.

RB Chris Carson, SEA (r) - Carson outplayed RB Eddie Lacy again today, and totaled 49 yard on 7 touches to only 3 yards on 5 carries for Lacy. Who do you think will get more touches moving forward?

RB Giovani Beranrd, CIN - He made the most of his touches today, totaling 79 yards on 8 touches and a catch. He should remains a decent part of that RBBC in Cincy.

RB Andre Ellington, ARZ - With RB David Johnson (wrist) out, he shared touches with RB Kerwynn Williams, and he did out-catch him 2-to-1. He is worth a look for desperate fantasy owners in larger leagues.

RB Charcandrick West, KC - He didn't see much action last Thursday night, but did rush for a score and is the clear handcuff to RB Kareem Hunt.

WR Corey Davis, TEN (r) - The rookie impressed today, seeing a team high 10 targets, catching 6 passes for 69 yards against the Raiders. He is a dynamic player, so pick him up if he's on your waiver wire!

WR Kenny Golladay, DET (r) - The rookie came up big today, filling the #3 WR job, catching 4 of 7 targets for 69 yards and TWO scores against the Cardinals. That said, he did not see top corner coverage since he is the #3 WR.

WR Danny Amendola, NE - He did suffer a concussion, but before getting hurt, he also produced a nice 6-100 stat line against the Chiefs last Thursday night.

WR Cooper Kupp, LAR (r) - The rookie is the slot receiver and safety valve for QB Jared Goff, catching 4 of 6 targets for 76 yards and a score against the Colts today.

WR Paul Richardson, SEA - He was solid today, catching 4 of 7 targets for 59 yards today against the Packers. My summer deep sleeper is wide awake now!

WR Allen Hurns, JAX - With WR Allen Robinson (torn ACL) lost for the season, look for Hurns to step into his starting job immediately. Hurns led the Jaguars today with 4 targets, catching 3 passes for 42 yards.

WR Marquise Lee, JAX - With WR Allen Robinson (torn ACL) lost for the season, Lee failed to catch any of his four targets today, but should continue to start opposite WR Allen Hurns moving forward.

WR Nelson Agholor, PHI - He surprised today, catching 6 passes for 86 yards and a score on 8 targets. That said, he is only the #3 WR, so don't expect this kind of production every week moving froward.

WR Jermaine Kearse, NYJ - He led the Jets with 9 targets today, catching 7 passes for 59 yards. Not bad for a veteran journeyman receiver.

WR Josh Bellamy, CHI - He caught 3 of 4 targets today for 27 yards and could be first in line to start opposite WR Kendall Wright with WR Kevin White (collarbone) likely out for the season.

WR Ryan Grant, WAS - He was solid today as the team's #3 WR, catching 4 of 6 targets for 61 yards against the Eagles.

WR J.J. Nelson, ARZ - He was solid today as the team's #3 WR, catching 5 of 6 targets for 43 yards and a late score against the Lions.

TE Charles Clay, BUF - He led the team in targets with 9 today, catching 4 passes for 53 yards and a score against the Jets. As long as he's healthy, he should continue to produce solid numbers each week.

TE Austin Hooper, ATL - He had the play of the day from a tight end, catching a 88-yard TD catch and run today against the Bears. That said, he only caught two passes all game for 128 yards and that score. Still, not bad, eh?

TE Jesse James, PIT - He is still the starter, at least for today, and that led him to catch 6 of 8 targets for 41 yards and two score against the Browns. Teammate TE Vance McDonald failed to catch his only target, but he should eventually start over James.

TE Jared Cook, OAK - He was solid today as the team's pass-catching TE, catching 5 of 5 targets for 56 yards against the Titans.

TE George Kittle, SF (r) - In his debut as the 49ers starting TE, Kittle caught 5 of 6 passes for 27 yards, giving him a bit of fantasy value in PPR leagues.

End.
