Arizona Cardinals May Scouting Report
David Vohs
5/31/2018

The Arizona Cardinals seemingly had a very good draft in 2018. They went to Dallas and came away with a potential franchise Quarterback and didn’t have to give up an arm or even a leg!

The Cardinals had the #15 overall pick and jumped up to the #10 pick in a trade with the Oakland Raiders to pick QB Josh Rosen. The Cardinals gave up a 3rd round pick and a 5th round pick this year. Very little cost associated with going up 5 spots in the first round!

Round 1, Pick 10 (No. 10 overall) [via Oakland]

Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA

Rosen COULD have fallen to #15, but the Cardinals did the wise choice and just went up and got their man. Costing the #15, a 3rd Round and a 5th Round, the Cardinals did very well. QB Josh Rosen will back up QB Sam Bradford and QB Mike Glennon.

Round 2, Pick 15 (No. 47 overall):

WR Christian Kirk, WR, Texas A&M – WR Christian Kirk needs to come along quickly and become the go-to receiver for the Cardinals. He also needs to take off some pressure from WR Larry Fitzgerald.

Round 3, Pick 33 (No. 97 overall) *compensatory selection: The Cardinals gave up their third round pick but had this pick in their pocket.

C Mason Cole, Michigan – Great pick here. The Cardinals could have in 3 rounds found long term solutions to QB, WR, and C. WOW!

Round 4, Pick 34 (No. 134 overall) *compensatory selection: RB Chase Edmonds, Fordham – Look for him to play on special teams and back up RB David Johnson.

Round 6, Pick 8 (No. 182 overall): CB Christian Campbell, Penn State – Could he eventually take over for CB Patrick Peterson or play opposite of him? Hope so!

Round 7, Pick 36 (No. 254 overall) *compensatory selection: OL Korey Cunningham, Cincinnati – Amazing size for an offensive lineman. Good depth pick.

The Cardinals went offense, offense, offense, offense, defense, offense. The defense will build through free agency and getting injured players back. The offense has a young nucleus to build around. The Cardinals were 8-8 last year and most do not believe they can even get back there again. Next edition, will be to discuss training camp! Go Cardinals!

End.
