New York Giants June Scouting Report
Tony DeArmas
6/26/2017
Here is the Giants update for June after the completion of mini-camp:
QB Eli Manning is meshing well with his new offensive weapons. I sense a big year in the offing for the two time Super Bowl MVP. 3rd round pick QB Davis Webb looks good but needs to spend his first year learning the ropes as the #3 QB. QB Geno Smith and QB Josh Johnson will compete for the #2 job.
The runningback corps looks set with RB Paul Perkins, RB Shane Vereen, RB Orleans Darkwa and rookie RB Wayne Gallman. They might keep a fifth running back depending on roster needs. Veteran RB Shane Draughn stays in the mix.
WR Odell Beckham Jr, WR Brandon Marshall and WR Sterling Shepard are set as the starters. Shepard is focusing on yards after the catch this season…watch out. There are also some good young receivers that will make some noise in the upcoming training camp.
The tight end position is stacked with competition and represents a big upgrade from last year. I can’t wait to see 1st round pick TE Evan Engram flash his athletic ability.
The defense looks to be stronger than ever with young veterans on the rise like LB BJ Goodson. This is easily a top 5 defense in my opinion.
That’s it for now.
More to come in July with training camp news….
End.
