New York Jets April Scouting Report
David Vohs
4/26/2017

The 2017 NFL draft is quickly the Jets have the 6th overall pick, the 39th overall pick and then 2 picks in the third round. Rounding out the picks are 5th round, 6th round and 7th round.

Draft Needs: QB, OL, TE, CB, WR

First round pick thoughts: SS Jamal Adams really is the safest bet at #6. I would imagine the Jets wouldn’t mind trading down and gaining a few more picks but if they sit tight, they will probably get Adams or TE O.J. Howard. The Jets could also swing towards S Malik Hooker as well with this pick. That’s why if someone wants to jump up and snag the QB they want, I’m sure the Jets would be happy to listen.

QB: The Jets have had far too many average QBs. They don’t need another one and should not concern themselves with a QB in the first round until maybe next season.

RB: RB Matt Forte and RB Bilal Powell have this covered. I have seen many mock drafts going for Ohio State CB Marshon Lattimore being drafted here and who could blame them. Still, a large fast RB would put them in good standing at that position for a long long time! Still, I think Todd Bowles goes defense all the way on their first pick.

WR: WR Corey Davis from Western Michigan could be a pick here but I doubt it. WR Eric Decker has health questions, WR Quincy Enunwa and newly acquired WR Quinton Patton won’t make anyone fearful. The Jets will start looking WR in the second round is my guess.

TE: TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins is the guy here. I see him being the starter and the go to guy for the Jets in 2017. Do they go pick TE O.J. Howard? I don’t think they need to. Fill in the other holes!

K: PK Chandler Catanzaro has a strong leg that the Jets will fall in love with. Perhaps his second chance will propel him into greatness that he can achieve.

The Jets will get a good player at #6 and be happy with him. I’d tend to believe, that player will be on the defensive side of the ball.

End.
