Arizona Cardinals March Scouting Report
David Vohs
3/29/2017

The Cardinals have had a rocky off-season and fans are worried. There has been plenty of activity but it seems like the talent is leaving faster than coming to the team. Departures include: DE Calais Campbell, SS Tony Jefferson, LB Kevin Minter, LB Alex Okafor, FS DJ Swearinger, TE Darren Fells, and OG Earl Watford. The Cardinals re-signed RB Andre Ellington and apparently are looking to make him WR Andre Ellington. The Cardinals also signed: SS Antoine Bethea from SF, LB Karlos Dansby, K Phil Dawson, and LB Jarvis Jones.

Let’s take a look at where we stand:

QB: QB Carson Palmer is under contract and hopefully plays like the QB of the second half all year. Keep QB Carson Palmer healthy and this team has a chance. Period. QB Drew Stanton and QB Zac Dysart round out the roster. The Cardinals hopefully will take a QB in this year’s draft or in my opinion, NEXT year (2018 NFL Draft). I think the QB level of skill is better next year.

RB: RB David Johnson, RB Kerwynn Williams, and RB Elijah Penny should be able to handle all the duties. I would still like to get RB Chris Johnson back for one more season as well. No worries here.

WR: While I would LOVE to see Clemson WR Mike Williams come to the Cardinals, I’d rather see LB Reuben Foster in Cardinal Red this season. After that, a good cornerback and THEN a WR. The Cardinals could go with WR Larry Fitzgerald, WR JJ Nelson, and WR John Brown, but they need the tall guy to catch the corner route and be tough across the middle. Go get WR Anquan Boldin!

TE: TE Jermaine Gresham re-signed with the Cardinals and will start. A high draft pick here would be a waste of a pick as they don’t use the TE enough.

K: PK Phil Dawson will need to be accurate and make kicks. Period.

Draft Needs (in my particular order): MLB, CB, WR, OG, CB, QB, CB, SS

Ideal Draft: Round 1: LB Reuben Foster, Round 2: CB Quincy Wilson or CB Jalen Tabor Florida. Hey, I’ll take a 4.7 40 time if he can tackle and cover.

Go Cardinals!

End.
