New York Jets February Scouting Report
David Vohs
2/27/2017

The NY JETS cut C Nick Mangold to save cap dollars. Also, K Nick Folk, OT Ryan Clady, and OT Breno Giacomini were all cut to save money as well. The Jets have cleared $29.2M in cap space and gives them $20M under the cap. There will probably be more cuts coming. CB Derrell Revis

QB - QB Ryan Fitzgerald and QB Geno Smith are both free agents. I am not sure either will be back with the JETS next year. I think the JETS are in full blown re-start mode. I hope he catches on, but I see the Jets taking a QB in the first round.

RB – The Jets are pretty set at this position and I doubt they will take a huge leap at #6 in the first round for a runningback. RB Matt Forte and RB Bilal Powell can carry the load with RB Khiry Robinson providing rest. They may take a young running back but it won’t be in the first round.

WR – The Jets are set at WR as well. WR Eric Decker, WR Quincy Enunwa, WR Brandon Marshall, WR Devin Smith, WR Myles White, WR Robby Anderson is a pretty good group. They may try to get a tall WR later in the draft to learn from WR Brandon Marshall.

TE TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins seems to be the heir apparent. I don’t see a major run early on TE for the Jets.

May mock drafts have the NY Jets taking the best defensive back available replacing CB Derrelle Revis. That would be a great move in my opinion. Next week, we’ll look at the draft.

The Jets free agents are: QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, C Nick Mangold (already cut), OT Ryan Clady (already let go), OT Breno Giacomini, K Nick Folk (already released), LB Erin Henderson, QB Geno Smith, TE Kellen Davis, LS Tanner Purdum, LB Bruce Carter, OT Benjamin Ijalana, OB Corey Lemonier, CB Antonio Allen, and OB Josh Martin.

End.
