Los Angeles Chargers July Scouting Report
Brad Willis
7/30/2026

Not a lot of recent updates, as the Chargers progress through training camp. Apparently, several new and not-so-new players are turning some heads in camp. Let’s look at the status of the Bolts, by position.

QB: At the expense of being repetitive, I consider QB Justin Herbert to be a top 10 quarterback, and quite possibly a top 5 option. Herbert has a cadre of solid receiving options, and I’d expect new OC Mike McDaniel to open things up a bit this year, which should be good for Herbert’s numbers.

RB: Your lead back is RB Omarion Hampton, who has top 10 potential. Hopefully, he can remain healthy this season. His primary backs are RB Kimani Vidal and RB Keaton Mitchell, who have limited value when Hampton is healthy.

WR: I believe that the top option at wideout is WR Ladd McConkey, although he has plenty of competition and came back down to earth in 2025. Looks like a strong WR2 to me. I mentioned competition, so primary competition would be WR Quentin Johnston who remains the primary deep threat. He’s a softer WR2 or strong WR3 with upside potential. I’d put the following in the "show me" category, WR Tre’ Harris, WR KeAndre Lambert-Smith, and rookie speedster WR Brenen Thompson, who has impressed during camp. Not sure I’d draft them, but I’d keep an eye on them.

TE: The most upside potential is TE Oronde Gadsden, although he does have some competition. TE2 for now with TE1 potential. We know that TE David Njoku is solid, and his presence hurts Gadsden for sure. TE Charlie Kolar is primarily a blocker, although he could vulture some looks here and there.

PK: I think PK Cameron Dicker is one of the best in the league and is worth drafting.

DEF: The Chargers defense is usually average to slightly above, and this season will probably not be an exception. Rookie First Round pick EDGE Akheem Mesidor has turned some heads in camp, and will likely be the Chargers’ 3rd EDGE rusher, behind EDGE Tuli Tuipulotu and EDGE Khalil Mack. Good luck in your fantasy drafts!

End.

Testimonials

"I'd like to thank Fantasy Football Mastermind for all their great information this year. I was in five leagues this year. I made the playoffs in four of the leagues, had the best record in three leagues, went to the championship in three leagues."
-- Fred Masterjohn

"I began using FFM in the late 1990s. For 20+ years they were an extremely valuable resource, as I enjoyed great success in my league during that period. Unfortunately, my league came to an end during the Covid years, and I stopped subscribing to FFM. After a year without Fantasy Football, I started looking into online sports betting and quickly realized FFM could again become a valuable source of information for prop bets on individual players. I resumed my subscription with FFM and have not looked back. FFM is clearly a dual threat; they can severely increase your odds of success in both fantasy leagues as well as prop betting. I almost feel guilty with the tremendous returns I get from such a modest investment in FFM."
