Arizona Cardinals May Scouting Report
David Vohs
5/31/2026

Major questions abound with the 2026 Arizona Cardinals:

  1. Who is starting at QB?
  2. Why is QB Jacoby Brissett holding out?
  3. Did the Cardinals do the right thing in taking a RB 3rd Overall?
  4. How are they doing against the salary cap?

The 2026 NFL Draft is done and the Cardinals made a splash with their first pick of RB Jeremiyah Love.

Round 1 Pick 3 Jeremiyah LoveRBNotre Dame

Round 2 Pick 34 Chase BisontisGTexas A&M

Round 3 Pick 65 Carson BeckQBMiami

Round 4 Pick 104 Kaleb ProctorDTSE Louisiana

Round 5 Pick 143 Reggie VirgilWRTexas Tech

Round 6Pick 183 Karson ShararLBIowa

Round 7 Pick 217 Jayden WilliamsOTOle Miss

One of the big issues is how much the #3 overall pick will cost the Cardinals for 5 years and extending a young runningback will cost them a fortune. Was it wiser to take the defensive player at that point and take a RB in the second round? That's for the future to tell us.

The Cardinals worked primarily on the offensive side of the ball then taking a Guard from Texas A&M OL Chase Bisontis and then made a smarter move than moving up in the first to take QB Ty Simpson, they got QB Carson Beck in the third round. Much better move in my opinion.

What does the 2026-2027 season hold for the Arizona Cardinals. I think they truly have a shot at the first overall pick. The Cardinals' schedule is tough tough tough this year and they are not going to be favored in any games they play this year is my thought right now.

I think the Arizona Cardinals still have some work to do in free agency starting tomorrow June 1, 2026. I don't think they will bring in WR AJ Brown, but they will be active to improve the depth on their offensive line and see what they can do to bolster their special teams and defense.

I wasn't a huge fan of what the Cardinals did in the draft, but then again, I'm not paid to make the decisions. I could be wrong, but RB J. Love could be past his prime when the Cardinals are ready to make a run at the playoffs. We'll see.

Go Cardinals!

End.
