New York Giants March Scouting Report
Michael Nazarek
3/31/2026
My favorite team (NY Giants) were active in free agency, and while I'm currently working on my Free Agency Review article for premium package subscribers, I'll offer my thoughts on a few of the bigger moves by the Giants made in March…
New HC John Harbaugh has fans excited for the coming season. The two biggest moves made by the team including signing free-agents WR Darnell Mooney and TE Isaiah Likely to boost the passing game. Harbaugh loves the mismatches that Likely can create, so look for the team to use a lot of 2-TE sets with Likely and TE Theo Johnson. That said, the days of Johnson starting and being a solid lower TE1 for fantasy are "likely" over. You see what I did there? Anyway, look for QB Jaxson Dart to work to get the football to Likely on deeper crossing and seam patterns. Likely could break into the TE1 category if he develops quick chemistry with Dart. Of course, the return of WR Malik Nabers (torn ACL) looms large, since he will clearly be the team's WR1. WR Wan'Dale Robinson signed with the Titans in March, so that leaves new WR Darnell Mooney as the first choice to be the team's new WR2. Now, the team could also draft WR Carnell Tate in April, giving them even more talent to work with. Anyway you look at it, the Giants will have more talent to use in the passing game in 2026.
Second-year RB Cam Skattebo (ankle) says he’s improving in rehab from the ankle injury that ended his 2025 season. Skattebo says he just started running, although he still has a ways to go before he can run at a full sprint. "I’m getting better. I ran for the first time today about 75 percent," Skattebo said. Skattebo said 75 percent is a gentle pace and he’s not overdoing it at this point in his rehab. "Not very fast," Skattebo said. "I can get away from like a baby hippo, maybe. That’s about it. A little bit over a jog, just striding out, not exploding yet and getting into that, but the jog and the striding." Skattebo should be the most valuable Giants RB if he can play the entire season healthy in 2026.
Veteran free-agent WR Odell Beckham Jr. came to the Arizona Biltmore during the NFL's annual meetings and met with New York Giants HC John Harbaugh on Monday about potentially joining the team. Unfortunately, if the Giants sign OBJ, I only see them using him as a spot-player with minimal fantasy impact. In other words, don't get your hopes up for a rebirth from the player with THE CATCH from 2014. Yes, I own an autographed print of that play on my wall in my Vegas Room home office.
More to come on my thoughts about the Giants draft later in April…
End.
