New York Giants Early August Scouting Report
Tony DeArmas
8/12/2025

Here is the Giants update for the first half of August after their first preseason game. Big Blue beat the Bills in Buffalo34-25. The offense should some fluidity and explosiveness, especially in the passing game. There will be 2 joint practices with the Jets this week before facing off with their cross town rivals this weekend. HC Brian Daboll indicated if starters were healthy, they would play. I expect even more starter play time this weekend.

QB Russell Wilson started and played the first series. He ran very conservative plays and didn’t show much. Rookie QB Jaxson Dart came in and played the rest of the first half. He showed impressive poise and accuracy. His mobility will clearly be an asset. He threw a beautiful TD pass at the end of the half. QB Jameis Winston and QB Tommy DeVito played in the second half and looked solid. More importantly, the quarterbacks were not sacked!

RB Tyrone Tracy Jr started and looked OK in limited action.Rookie RB Cam Skattebo sat with a hamstring injury so RB Dante Miller stepped in and showed off his burst and big play ability. RB Devin Singletary saw limited action.

WR Malik Nabers did not play as he is managing through his toe injury. He may sit most of the preseason. No other receiver activity of note as the backups primarily played most of the game.

TE Theo Johnson had a few catches. Rookie TE Thomas Fidone made a few impressive grabs and is looking to stick on the team. Both these guys are extremely athletic and add another dimension to the passing game.

The defense looked stout and rookie EDGE Abdul Carter will be a problem all year. He has an amazing combination of strength and speed. The CB2 battle will continue throughout training camp. This unit could be sneaky good this year. Watch & learn!

PK Graham Gano showed no rust and connected on 3 long field goals.

That’s it for now.

More to come in later in August….

End.
