Los Angeles Chargers June Scouting Report
Brad Willis
6/20/2025

As is usually the case, the Chargers didn’t make a lot of free agent moves in the offseason. However, the team will have several noteworthy changes. Here’s how the team looks, as of this writing.

QB: In my opinion, QB Justin Herbert will likely remain a top 10 fantasy quarterback. On the downside, once again, it is expected that the Chargers will continue to lean on the running game heavily, plus, Herbert’s receivers aren’t exactly stellar, with one exception.

RB: The Chargers may have a two-headed running back monster on their hands. Newcomer RB Najee Harris has proven himself to be a reliable fantasy performer, and at barely 27 years old, he should have several good years left. But now comes first round draft pick RB Omarion Hampton. While I would have preferred that the Chargers selected a wideout in Round 1, there’s no argument against Hampton’s talent. But how does that translate into the NFL? He remains unproven, imo. I’d consider Harris a strong RB2. Hampton is a softer RB2 until he proves himself and gets plenty of carries and opportunities.

WR: The star of the show is WR Ladd McConkey, who should remain a WR1. WR Mike Williams, and at 30 with a history of injuries, his role is unclear. Soft WR3 to start. I often have a wait and see attitude towards rookies, and I’d put 2nd Round pick WR Tre Harris in that category. He could be a late round stash, but I wouldn’t chase him. WR Quentin Johnston has shown flashes of talent and stone hands, at times. I wouldn’t draft him.

TE: Last year, TE Will Dissly exceeded expectations. He remains a TE2. Rookie TE Oronde Gadsden has impressed in minicamp. He has upside potential, but I wouldn’t draft him until he shows us something. Free agent acquisition TE Tyler Conkin’s role is also unclear. I’m not thrilled about any of these guys, but any one of them could step things up during the season.

PK: I think PK Cameron Dicker is solid, with good accuracy and respectable leg strength.

DEF: The Chargers defense is usually somewhere around average. Rarely stellar and rarely terrible. That should be the case this year too. EDGE Joey Bosa is gone. EDGE Khalil Mack has been solid, but he’s 34 years old, so expect him to slow down. I was sorry to see DT Poona Ford depart, so rookie DT Jamaree Caldwell will have big shoes to fill. Good luck in your upcoming drafts!

End.
