Washington Commanders April Scouting Report
David Vohs
4/23/2025

Just ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft, we take a quick peek into the Washington Commanders’ draft plans. Given their great run last year, they do NOT have a lot of draft capital for this year: See below:

  • Round 1: Pick 29 (29 overall)
  • Round 2: Pick 29 (61 overall)
  • Round 4: Pick 26 (128 overall)
  • Round 6: Pick 29 (205 overall)
  • Round 7: Pick 29 (245 overall)

The Commanders need to keep pace with the Eagles and Cowboys and keep getting better. They did do well in the off season garnering OL Laremy Tunsil and WR Deebo Samuel and CB Marshon Lattimore all improvements to the team in experience and talent. They managed to do all this and keep their top 2 picks.

In the 2025 draft, the team needs are simple:

  1. Keep QB Jayden Daniels alive
  2. Disrupt the NFC East with defensive pressure on QB Jalen Hurts, QB Dak Prescott, and whatever the Giants end up doing at QB.
  3. Cover someone!

The Commanders will likely start off the draft with either CB or EDGE (DE) and see what falls to them. In free agency, the Commanders lost Edge DE Dante Fowler to the Cowboys and created a huge need. They will address that need Thursday or Friday in the draft.

In the second round they will address either CB or DL is my prediction.

In the fourth round, the Commanders will get some help at the OL position for QB Jayden Daniels and then look to grab probably the best available in the 6th and 7th rounds of the upcoming draft on Saturday.

This team will continue to get better and look for them to have a bit of a tougher schedule and a rougher time getting back to 12-5 but they will have the talent to do it and hopefully stay injury free!

Go Commanders!

End.
