Seattle Seahawks April Scouting Report
Rick Watts
4/21/2025

I want to approach this pre draft report somewhat differently. I have done a significant number of simulations and one stands out for me. Here is why.

QB:

Initially I have always been grabbing the best available quarterback at 92. In this case I have QB Jalen Milroe out of Alabama. That is not a bad value at 92. But here is what happened in that draft. I kept trading down with teams who were giving me 2026 picks. I still had pick 26 in the first, but I had an extra 2nd, 2 3rds, and a 4th for next year. Next year there will be a number of really good quarterbacks and those extra four picks could help moving up in the first to get a better pick than Milroe. That is what jumped out to me at the end and I still had picks 26, 56, 68, 82, 92, 99, 116, and 135. And I was able to cover all the needs with them.

I used 56 and 82 to get OG Tate Ratledge and OC Jared Wilson. This is the bare minimum type of path that Seattle needs to go to improve the center of the offensive line. I would rather have had one more big guy with that 92nd pick instead of what may well be a throw away pick on Milroe. Such a gamble.

RB:

This draft is really strong at running back and I took a flyer on RB Cameron Skattebo with pick 135. He has a ton of upside, but typically I go after RB Brashard Smith later like at 172. Mostly because he has returning ability, but also because Seattle has no one else like him.

WR:

I really do not want to use a first round pick to "replace" WR DK Metcalf. In this mock I managed to get WR Jack Bech out of TCU at 68. That is another good reason to move around in this draft because there are some specific guys like Bech who are good fits for Seattle, but most likely will not be there at any of their existing picks.

TE:

I am not sure it is reality, but I got one of the top 4 tight ends at 99, TE Elijah Arroyo from Miami. Seattle really should get one of the top 4 and I am even fine with them using a first to do it. I want them not to need to hold onto TE Noah Fant any longer.

Defense:

Again this may not be realistic anymore, but I managed to snag LB Jihaad Campbell trading back to 26. This would be ideal, but with everyone I ended up with oddly enough just grabbing the best available at 26 would work out, maybe a corner or safety even. With the right number and location of day two picks the actual first round pick (unless Seattle were to trade up!) really does not matter too much. The cherry on top for me was grabbing DT Jordan Phillips at 116 as a true nose tackle. I have become convinced that getting a true nose will allow DT Byron Murphy to break out and make the defensive line a crazy strength for the Seahawks.

Go Hawks!

End.
