Arizona Cardinals June Scouting Report
David Vohs
6/30/2023

Well, I have to say it has been a very very quiet early summer for the Arizona Cardinals. Aside from cutting probably their best player in WR DeAndre Hopkins, not much stunning news has come from the Arizona Cardinals. The current major stories surround S Budda Baker who has been attending meetings and OTA’s but wants to be paid fairly as one of the best safeties in the NFL game today. I agree that he needs to be paid, but the Cardinals need to trade him now as they are fully in rebuild mode over the next 2-4 years. Get something for his talent now and let him chase a ring. They should have done that with WR Larry Fitzgerald as well. The issue is S Budda Baker has NO GUARRANTEED MONEY left on his contract which makes players very nervous. In 2020, WR Budda Baker inked a four-year $59M extension with Arizona but who plays out their contract anymore. I have an issue demanding more $$ when he hasn’t finished this contract, but I know the NFL is a major business.

Looking at the upcoming season for the Cardinals they are NOT favored in any game this year.

Preseason: (doesn’t count obviously)

Denver, KC, and at Minnesota

Regular Season: (Let’s just guess W or L as we stand now)

At Washington: L - I don’t see this team traveling east and getting a win against a tough Defensive Team.

NYGiants – L tough game vs a playoff team. I don’t think we have the talent to win this one.

Dallas L – too much talent

At San Fran – L too much talent and away? No chance. (0-4 start)

Cincy – L we get beat and beat badly – this is a contender for the SB (0-5)

At Rams – we have a 40-60 shot here and could be a close game but on the road. L 0-6

At Seattle – we play them tough no matter what. QB Kyler Murray could be seen on the field by now. Still, I don’t see a win here L 0-7 and looking forward to seeing a very high draft pick

Baltimore – L - nope

AT Cleveland in November – L - we wont beat this team unless they get lost getting to their home stadium. Too much talent right now in AFC

Atlanta – L – sorry, we don’t play well against this team no matter where, when, who. This one will be close but their young talent beats us in the 4th

At Houston: W The Cardinals COULD screw up the #1 pick here…. But I say they get it together and win this one….. even if it’s the WRONG thing to do….. it will help their #1 pick from Houston, though. (1-10)

LA at home L - they want revenge and we find a way to lose this one. (1-11)

At Pitt: L Period. 1-12

Week 14: BYE ! We don’t lose!

San Fran (home) No, they will be very much in the playoff hunt, Cards will not L 1-13

At Chicago – L By now Chicago has gotten much better…. (1-14)

At Philly: L - nuff said (1-15) Do we really want to play this game?

Seattle: Might be playing for the #1 seed so a loss here should be automatic 1-16 and the #1 or #2 pick (they should have both actually if Houston is about the same).

I hope I can have more optimism in the upcoming months, but right now, I do NOT see much better than 1-16 next year. However, that doesn’t mean they can’t have some Fantasy Football success and we’ll discuss THAT in July!

Go Cardinals!

End.
