New York Giants Late August Scouting Report
Tony DeArmas
8/29/2022

Here is the second August update for the Giants after their 3rd preseason game against the New York Jets last night. Big Blue lost 31-27 in a spirited affair. Most of their key starters did not play in this game.

QB Daniel Jones has had a good preseason and his training camp showing has gradually improved as well. I believe this offense will suit his specific skill set. This a big prove it year for Jones and given his supporting cast I would rank him QB16-18 for your upcoming fantasy drafts. He is a decent QB2 for fantasy purposes.

RB Saquon Barkley will benefit greatly from the upgraded offensive line. The new offense will get the ball in his hands a variety of ways as well. He will be a solid RB8-10 with upside. For now, RB Matt Breida would be his handcuff but I don't see him staying on the field much given his injury history. There are no other runners that are fantasy worthy.

WR Kenny Golladay has had a very quiet training camp. Due to his onerous contract, the G-Men cannot cut him but would be open to a trade if there are takers out there. Currently, I would consider him a deep flex option, nothing more. Veteran WR Sterling Shepard has been cleared to practice coming off an Achilles injury last year. He is not roster worthy as a result. Young WR Kadarius Toney is an intriguing talent but did not play this preseason due to injuries. He has proven to be brittle so I would consider him to be a middling flex or WR3 play for those willing to gamble. The receiver that interests me the most is rookie WR Wan'Dale Robinson. He has an explosive skill set and makes a great dynasty/keeper play. Currently, consider him a WR4 but with considerable upside.

The tight end group for Big Blue is a fantasy wasteland at the moment. Rookie TE Daniel Bellinger is the only possible pick here and is no more than a deep TE2 for your roster.

I love what I have seen from the new Wink Martindale defense. I expect an increase in sacks and turnovers. This group isn't top 12 yet but should be streamable and do have nice upside.

PK Graham Gano is a proven veteran and PK6 in my opinion. He is coming off a big year.

That's it for now, good luck in your drafts!

End.
