Arizona Cardinals Early August Scouting Report
David Vohs
8/16/2022

The Cardinals won their first pre-season game against Cincinnati 36-23 in Cincy behind QB Trace McSorley and RB Jonathan Ward 2 TDs. RB Keaontay Ingram also had a 1-yard TD run for the Cardinals. It was an exciting game, but I believe NO starters even played week 1 in the pre-season.

This week, Baltimore comes to Arizona and the depth chart looks like very few much like the week 1 depth chart. I do wish the starters would play for a quarter in this game. Here is what the depth chart looks like.

QB: We all know what is going on here. These guys are playing for the #2 spot on the QB roster. QB Colt McCoy and QB Trace McSorley will continue their battle this week and next for the backup job. No fantasy relevance here at all. QB Kyler Murray will be the #1.

RB: Well, this is a race for #2 and #3 on the depth chart. RB John Conner is the clear #1 and I thought RB Eno Benjamin was the #2 but it appears RB Jonathan Ward might have the inside track. I want to see what RB Eno Benjamin can do in leading this team. He has the credentials to be a very good backup. Rookie RB K. Ingram if continues to score TDs could be the #3 if Benjamin doesn't show something.

WR: WR Andy Isabella (former second round draft pick - ahead of WR DK Metcalf) will start along with WR Greg Dortch and WR Andre Baccellia.

TE: TE Trey McBride, TE Maxx Williams, and TE Zach Ertz are the starters. They probably will not see any action.

Again, I hope the starters actually play for a half, but I don't see this happening. I think the Cards will work on some schemes and looking at the young guys.

I honestly do not care if the Cardinals win this game or not, but please stay healthy in the depth area.

Report #2 for August will predict the final roster and discuss who YOU should be drafting... Meanwhile, we watch these games with a little interest.

End.
