Houston Texans Early August Scouting Report
David Trojanowsky
8/12/2022

The Texans take on the ‘long in the tooth and over-rated’ Saints this weekend.

The best thing that could happen is for QB Davis Mills to get enough reps to help him develop into a legit NFL QB. He will not get much help from his OL. RT Tytus Howard has missed too much time in camp. First round pick G Kenyon Green has a lingering knee injury, his unavailability is a disappointment. The high hopes for a better OL this year are suspect.

The best backs, RB Dameon Pierce and RB Marlon Mack have been stymied in camp. They have talent, but again, not enough blocking.

Draft pick WR John Metchie III is out this year, trying to recover from cancer! WR Brandin Cooks, WR Nico Collins, slot receiver WR Phillip Dorsett II and TE Brevin Jordan so far have looked decent in camp. The Texans need an A+ in the OL and a star WR. So far, the O looks like a 3-14 team.

The D is off to a better start. Rasheem Green, DE Mario Addison, and DE Jerry Hughes have combined with select starters from last year to put together a good- looking D. Rookies CB Derek Stingley Jr and FS Jalen Pitre are impressing. The secondary will not give up as many big plays to the super passers that are in the league this year. The D looks like a 9-8 team.

Despite big time progress from where they were last year the Texans are destined to pick early in next years’ draft. The Texans have a plan, multiple future draft picks and 100 MM of extra cap space in 2023. Time is on their side!

End.

Testimonials

"You already know the quality of the information available on this site, but Mike also responds immediately to customer issues. I did something to mess up my log in to the site and was unable to access it. One call to FFMastermind (Mike personally handled the issue) and things were cleared up and I was back in immediately."
-- Tony Schnocky

"There are only 3 sites I go to for my info: ESPN, NFL.com, and FFMastermind. Keep up the good work."
-- Paul B.

"I've been subscribing for about 6 or 7 years, and this is the best draft guide you guys have put out yet!"
-- Mark Lewandowski

"Great job with another SI.com Championship- clearly you rule that kingdom with FOUR championships in a row! And to win it being the #4 seed, too. Awesome job!"
-- John Pittman

"Mike, I'm back in with you buddy. Don't know how many years I've been with you, but I could not bear the thought of playing fantasy this year, without your services -- no matter what my job situation is."
-- C. Savoni

"I began using FFM in the late 1990s. For 20+ years they were an extremely valuable resource, as I enjoyed great success in my league during that period. Unfortunately, my league came to an end during the Covid years, and I stopped subscribing to FFM. After a year without Fantasy Football, I started looking into online sports betting and quickly realized FFM could again become a valuable source of information for prop bets on individual players. I resumed my subscription with FFM and have not looked back. FFM is clearly a dual threat; they can severely increase your odds of success in both fantasy leagues as well as prop betting. I almost feel guilty with the tremendous returns I get from such a modest investment in FFM."
