Houston Texans July Scouting Report
David Trojanowsky
7/19/2022

The Texans do not have enough stars. You can win 4-9 games without stars, but to make the season fun for the fans your franchise needs to win 11, 12 or more!

Here in July going into August the Texans will demonstrate that they have the bottom half of their roster on par with most other NFL teams.

This years’ OL needs RT Tytus Howard to move in the direction of a top ten player. Maybe not a star but moving in that direction. LT Laremy Tunsil needs to re-establish that he is a star.

Rookie RB Dameon Pierce and RB Marlon Mack are two possible fantasy RBs for our team. Can Pierce move in that direction?.

WR John Metchie III, WR Nico Collins and TE Brevin Jordan may achieve fantasy value this year. But stars of the future?

Will veteran DEs DE Ogbo Okoronkwo, DE Rasheem Green, DE Mario Addison and DE Jerry Hughes rotate and show star performance as one or two pass rushers? Will the DL work well enough to put pressure on the QB?

Can CB Derek Stingley, Jr show star power this year? Next year?

QB Davis Mills looks like a young QB Joe Montana to me. Will anyone else see that this year? If not, will the Texans lose enough games that they’ll have a shot of drafting Edge Will Anderson or QB C.J. Stroud. Will their 100 MM of extra cap space in 2023 buy them some stars?

End.
