New York Giants May Scouting Report
Tony DeArmas
5/23/2022

Here is the Giants update for May after the completion of the draft:

QB Daniel Jones did not get his 5th year option renewed and has to show he is deserving of another contract. I believe he will flourish under the system HC Brian Daboll and OC Mike Kafka are installing. That being said, it’s all about production and having the ability to stay on the field. The 2023 draft class is a good one for quarterbacks.

RB Saquon Barkley will have a chip on his shoulder and is looking to produce. If he can stay healthy, he should put up good #’s behind a vastly improved offensive line headlined by #7 overall pick OT Evan Neal. RB Matt Breida provides veteran depth but has proven to be brittle in his career so another option needs to be added in the backfield.

WR Kenny Golladay needs to be featured prominently in the passing game this year. I’m not expecting much from oft injured veteran WR Sterling Shepardunfortunately. 2ndyr. WR Kadarius Toney needs to stay healthy and engaged. He will be pushed mightily by exciting 2nd round pick WR Wan’Dale Robinson. Robinson is being featured often during the OTA’s that are currently being held. He makes things happen when he gets the ball in his hands. If utilized properly, Toney and Robinson could cause a lot of problems for opposing defenses. WR Darius Slayton is on the bubble to make the team.

The tight end position is currently somewhat average with veterans TE Ricky Seals-Jones and TE Jordan Akins. The guy to watch is 4th round pick TE Daniel Bellinger. He came from a run heavy college offense but has great hands and deceptive speed.

Fifth overall pick DE Kayvon Thibodeaux was a great pick for DC Wink Martindale’s blitz happy scheme. He will form a nice bookend tandem with 2nd yr DE Azeez Ojulari. They added some nice pieces to the defense later in the draft who should provide depth and play specific roles. The release of CB James Bradberry and subsequent signing by the Eagles has proven to be a black eye however. They could not find a trade partner and got nothing for him this year. Watch out for S Xavier McKinney who has been flying around in OTA’s so far this spring.

That’s it for now.

More to come in June….

End.

"I began using FFM in the late 1990s. For 20+ years they were an extremely valuable resource, as I enjoyed great success in my league during that period. Unfortunately, my league came to an end during the Covid years, and I stopped subscribing to FFM. After a year without Fantasy Football, I started looking into online sports betting and quickly realized FFM could again become a valuable source of information for prop bets on individual players. I resumed my subscription with FFM and have not looked back. FFM is clearly a dual threat; they can severely increase your odds of success in both fantasy leagues as well as prop betting. I almost feel guilty with the tremendous returns I get from such a modest investment in FFM."
