Arizona Cardinals March Scouting Report
David Vohs
3/31/2022

The Arizona Cardinals have made some moves in the 2022 NFL Free Agency timeline, but no real major splashes.

Signed with Cardinals:

OL Will Hernandez

LB Ezekiel Turner

LB Nick Vigil

QB Colt McCoy (kept)

CB Jeff Gladney

TE Zach Ertz (kept) (fantasy alert!)

RB James Connor (fantasy alert!)

TE Maxx Williams (kept)

LB Dennis Gardeck (kept)

DE Michael Dogbe

P Andy Lee (kept)

LS Aaron Brewer (kept)

Left Cardinals:

WR Christian Kirk (fantasy alert!)

RB Chase Edmonds (fantasy alert!)

OLB Chandler Jones (fantasy alert!)

G Max Garcia

Free Agents still unsigned:

WR A.J. Green (fantasy alert - maybe)

WR Antoine Wesley

So the Arizona Cardinals are in a cap mode where they just can't do a whole lot and ensure they can sign their rookie draftees. So, typical fashion, Steve Keim is waiting and biding his time to see what bargains he can get.

Upcoming important NFL dates:

April 28-30: Las Vegas NFL Draft 2022

Now, fantasy-wise:

QB Kyler Murray - What are the Cardinals going to do with him? The off-season banter has died down and I believe the Cardinals are working towards a long-term deal. The ultimate question is QB Kyler Murray the guy you want leading this franchise for the next 5-7 years or longer? Is he a born leader? Is he the guy you want on the sidelines for the foreseeable future leading the team! QB Kyler Murray needs to take this team on his shoulders and walk the walk and talk the talk. Don't worry about your contract. Don't worry about criticism. Go be the best QB you can. I'm almost of the point where it may behoove NFL teams to draft a "Franchise" QB every 3 years or less and see who steps forward.

RB James Connor is currently THE lead running back of the Cardinals. RB Chase Edmonds is gone to Miami. I'm thinking the Cardinals may sign a couple free agent running backs and may draft one on the third day of the draft. It doesn't make a lot of sense to not have depth here when RB James Connor has never played 16 games.

WR D'Andre Hopkins restructured his contract to give the Cardinals more cap room. Awesome. Then the Cardinals let WR Christian Kirk sign with the Jaguars for an insane amount of money. WR Rondale Moore needs to stay in the slot and the Cardinals need to bring in a burner on the outside to open the field and allow DHOP and the TE's and Moore to do the rest. Playing the patience game' is a draft pick a possibility at this position? You bet!

With the draft approaching, in the next edition, I'm going to point towards some positions and players I'd like to see in Red next year after the draft! Thank you!

End.
