Houston Texans March Scouting Report
David Trojanowsky
3/23/2022

The Texans no longer need to answer questions concerning QB Deshaun Watson. After the trade dust settled the Texans had enough future number one draft selections to trade up for next year’s projected Franchise QB: Heisman winner QB Bryce Young. If they want to and / or need to. Securing three number one draft selections could create an opportunity to make that happen.

2022 will be a year of further development of the previous year’s young prospects including QB Davis Mills, WR Nico Collins, TE Brevin Jordan, RB Scottie Phillips, T Charlie Heck, DT Ross Blacklock and OLB Jonathan Greenard. LB Kamu Grugier-Hill, nickel CB Tavierre Thomas and DT Maliek Collins were last year’s FAs that wanted to come back this year. Refreshing to have Texans that want to stay!

Former fan favorite LT Laremy Tunsil will be back after missing significant time with a torn thumb at mid-season. He restructured his contract; these coaches want him to stay. Will the Texans finally fix that OL? Here’s hoping that their first three draft selections are OL! Hopefully guys with mean streaks leaving the meek gentlemen of the offensive line for other teams.

At last count the Texans had 11 selections in next month’s draft. After the offensive line the Texans need help everywhere. As I write this RB Marlon Mack is working out with the Texans. I kept him on my fantasy roster last year just knowing the Colts would move him before the trade deadline. They didn’t. I witnessed his monster play-off game against the Texans a few years ago. We in Houston can only hope that he signs with the Texans. Mack and Phillips plus a drafted tailback would be a real improvement once that offensive line is percolating. God know it’s in Mills prayers every night. So would another wideout. Stay tuned.

End.
