Arizona Cardinals Late August Scouting Report
David Vohs
8/31/2021

The Arizona Cardinals have cut their roster to 53 but these will NOT be the final moves for the 2021 Arizona Cardinals.

No major surprises on cut day but one scratching your head move is placing CB Malcolm Butler on the retired reserve list. This is the position where the Cardinals have needed the most help over several years and have not done a very good job addressing the position. CB Malcolm Butler is dealing with personal issues and the Cardinals have been forced to put him on the reserve/retired list. This will take Butler off the 53-man roster and remove his salary from the salary cap. The Cardinals can decide if they want Butler to pay back his signing bonus or it will count against the cap.

Also as a bit of a surprise, the Cardinals waived S Chris Banjo, S Shawn Williams and 2021 7th round pick S James Wiggins. That leaves only 4 safeties on the team (S Budda Baker, S Jalen Thompson, S Deionte Thompson, and S Charles Washington).

Unless you are in a deep IDP league, this news is NOT spectacular for fantasy football.

Players to seek during your drafts:

QB Kyler Murray

RB Chase Edmonds

RB James Connors

WR DeAndre Hopkins

WR AJ Green

WR Rondale Moore

WR Christian Kirk

I would imagine the Cardinals are watching if WR KeSean clears waivers and then want to sign him back to the practice squad. As of this writing I have not heard either way.

Look for General Manager Steve Keim to be combing the wires for a CB or 3. More moves to come.

Go Cardinals

End.

"I began using FFM in the late 1990s. For 20+ years they were an extremely valuable resource, as I enjoyed great success in my league during that period. Unfortunately, my league came to an end during the Covid years, and I stopped subscribing to FFM. After a year without Fantasy Football, I started looking into online sports betting and quickly realized FFM could again become a valuable source of information for prop bets on individual players. I resumed my subscription with FFM and have not looked back. FFM is clearly a dual threat; they can severely increase your odds of success in both fantasy leagues as well as prop betting. I almost feel guilty with the tremendous returns I get from such a modest investment in FFM."
-- Sal B.

"Mike, I'm back in with you buddy. Don't know how many years I've been with you, but I could not bear the thought of playing fantasy this year, without your services -- no matter what my job situation is."
