New York Giants April Scouting Report
Tony DeArmas
4/26/2021

Here is the April update for Giants as the NFL draft draws near:

The front office did a stellar job in signing free agents and managing the salary cap. If they don’t have a player they LOVE at #11 in the draft, they should trade down and get a pick or two. Personally, I love LB Micah Parsons from Penn State.

QBDaniel Jones is the starting quarterback but this is his prove it year. He has plenty of offensive weapons around him so there will be no excuses. Veteran QB Mike Glennon is a solid backup with a big arm.

RB Saquon Barkley is back coming off his ACL injury and should be 100%. This will give the offense a big shot in the arm as he can do damage in many ways. RB Deonte Booker was signed to be a capable 3 down back.

The receiving corps appears looks very solid with WR Kenny Golladay, WR Sterling Shepard and WR Darius Slayton. Many draft pundits have the G-Men taking either WR DeVonta Smith or WR Jaylen Waddle, both from Alabama. In my opinion, this is overkill and they should address needs elsewhere.

TE Evan Engram was signed to his 5th year option. There are rumors he might be traded as they signed veteran TE Kyle Rudolph in free agency. If he stays, they have a nice set of bookends and more weapons for DJ.

The offensive line has improved considerably with some of the youngsters drafted last year. There is a chance they might take a lineman in the first round but I wouldn’t count on it. Otherwise LT Andrew Thomas, LG Will Hernandez, C Nick Gates, RG Shane Lemieux, and RT Nate Solder.

The defensive line looks solid. I don’t see a major pick here.

I would love a playmaker like Parsons to play next to tackling machine LB Blake Martinez. They have a few guys coming back from injuty who would bolster the pass rush.

The secondary looks outstanding with CB James Bradberry, CB Adoree Jackson, S Jabrill Pepper, S Xavier McKinney and jack of all trades CB Logan Ryan.

That’s it for now.Enjoy the draft and more to come in May….

End.
