Houston Texans March Scouting Report
David Trojanowsky
3/22/2021

I like QB Deshaun Watson, one of the best cats around. I hate watching him going through this local’s shakedown. One thing for sure he can no longer be the face of the Franchise. Expect the Deshaun trade Draft Day with the Jets. QB Tyrod Taylor is penciled in as the starter. Doesn’t really excite the ticketholders.

The team has now also lost WR Will Fuller. Another one of the great guys now gone.

Last year’s young holdover talent of TE Kahale Warring, RB Scottie Phillips, T Charlie Heck, DT Auzoyah Alufohai, DT Ross Blacklock, S Geno Stone and OLB Jonathan Greenard will compete with 30ish young recently signed FAs. Training camp should be fun with so many new faces. The coaches should be able to establish a new culture unless the BLM movement poisons the team. We will see.

RB David Johnson is now joined in the backfield with RB Mark Ingram and RB Phillip Lindsey. Lousy guard/center play killed the team’s run game last year. The Texans have brought in new blood for the G and C positions. Guys I’ve never heard of before, but they can’t be any worse than last years’ interior OL.

WR Brandin Cooks’ play last year was superb and he’ll be back. After him though the WRs room is suspect.

The Defense is also loaded with many new faces. Guys I’ve never heard of before, but they can’t be any worse than last years’ Defense.

One thing the Texans should excel at this year is special teams. They have signed a ton of FAs that excel as ST blockers and tacklers.

Go Texans!

End.
