Los Angeles Rams Mid-August Scouting Report
Layton Pang
8/20/2020

Training camp 2020 has opened and because of the Covid-19 pandemic, this is the first taste of football this off season. The entire pre-season was cancelled so we have no idea how players are performing, especially the rookies. Besides training camp, Hard Knocks on HBO also started and this year they are featuring both Los Angeles teams, the Rams and the Chargers. Here is the current state of Rams players at Fantasy positions along with my thoughts for the upcoming season.

QB Jared Goff: Jared has put on a little weight as his body matures and he is poised for a bounce back season. He has been solid during camp and could be a nice value pick for Fantasy teams as he has been ranked outside the top 15 in many publications.

RB Cam Akers: Cam has been doing well in camp and will compete with the other backs for playing time. With no preseason, it will be hard for the rookie to take over the number one spot to start the season but in time I think Cam should be the lead dog.

RB Darrell Henderson: Darrell is in the mix for RBBC, but I think as the season progresses, his niche will be as a third down change of pace back and the lead kick return man for the Rams.

RB Malcom Brown: The veteran Brown is currently the best short yardage back and should end up being a solid backup when Akers takes over that role as well as that starting tailback spot.

WR Robert Woods: Woods has been his usual reliable self during camp and should combine with Cooper Kupp to form a productive duo.

WR Cooper Kupp: Kupp has a new number (#10) but is his old productive self. Kupp and Woods are 1A and 1B for the Rams but I can’t tell which one is which.

WR Josh Reynolds: Josh has been running with the first team during camp but is being pushed by the rookie below.

WR Van Jefferson: Van has been solid in camp and could push Reynolds for playing time. Neither has much Fantasy potential at this time but keep an eye on them, especially if anything happens to Kupp or Woods.

TE Tyler Higbee: Tyler has picked up where he left off to end last season as he has been making plays with Goff during camp.

TE Gerald Everett: Gerald has been healthy and will compete with Higbee for playing time. This is a big year for Everett as he will be a free agent after the season.

DT Aaron Donald: What is there to say? He is dominant!

LB Micah Kiser: Good to see Micah back on the field. If he can stay healthy, he should be one of the starting linebackers.

DB John Johnson: Is back from his shoulder injury and will start at free safety.

DB Taylor Rapp: Taylor has missed time with a minor knee injury. Hopefully he gets back on the field and builds from his productive rookie season.

So far the League is moving forward with the start of the season as planned. Hopefully they can keep that schedule. Like the NFL, Fantasy leagues are holding VIRTUAL DRAFTS so MASK UP and make the best of the situation. God is good all the time! If you believe and have faith you know what I mean, if you don’t, then now is a good time to learn. Love and blessings to my family. Miss you Pops! Aloha!

End.
