Houston Texans Mid-August Scouting Report
David Trojanowsky
8/20/2020

So far in camp this is what I have heard from the very few who have seen. OT Laremy Tunsil, OG Max Scharping, C Nick Martin and OT Tytus Howard are the foundation of an offensive line that could be one of the better ones this year. My hunch of a future Texan quarterback got cut before camp even started. Rookie FA QB Nick Tiano, we hardly knew you! Guess the Texans will have to stick with QB Deshaun Watson.

Word is that Watson is looking sharp behind that line. So is RB David Johnson. Big and fast and so far, he's healthy.

TE Jordon Thomas and TE Jordon Akins won’t be part of this line. They can’t block, but they can catch. It will be interesting to see how they will game plan these big guys with the fast WRs. Speed kills in the NFL. The Texans think that they have the ponies to emulate the Chiefs. We’ll see.

Expect the Texans to score. The real question is do they have enough on the defense to stop anyone, especially when it counts. So far rookie’s DT Ross Blacklock and CB John Reid have been impressive. These guys are rookies so expectations must be tempered.

Hopes are high for second year CB Lonnie Johnson and DL Charles Omenihu. Everywhere I go people want to talk about Omenihu being a pro bowler this year. We’ll see. Will young CB Gareon Conley mature, grow into a solid corner?

The Texans want to win now and have $21.6 million of remaining cap cash to pick up more talent if they see someone they like.

I believe the Texans defense is suspect. I need to see some football to understand the defense. I believe that the offense will have to score a lot of points for them to win this year. If you’re starting to draft, consider drafting some of the Texans wideouts, tailbacks and of course, their quarterback.

End.

"I began using FFM in the late 1990s. For 20+ years they were an extremely valuable resource, as I enjoyed great success in my league during that period. Unfortunately, my league came to an end during the Covid years, and I stopped subscribing to FFM. After a year without Fantasy Football, I started looking into online sports betting and quickly realized FFM could again become a valuable source of information for prop bets on individual players. I resumed my subscription with FFM and have not looked back. FFM is clearly a dual threat; they can severely increase your odds of success in both fantasy leagues as well as prop betting. I almost feel guilty with the tremendous returns I get from such a modest investment in FFM."
-- Sal B.

"I've been subscribing for about 6 or 7 years, and this is the best draft guide you guys have put out yet!"
-- Mark Lewandowski
