Arizona Cardinals Mid-August Scouting Report
David Vohs
8/16/2020

Training camp opens and who are the first two Arizona Cardinal Wide Receivers in line to receive passes from QB Kyler Murray? WR DeAndre Hopkins and WR Larry Fitzgerald. Wow! That’s leadership! I am loving this team right now.

QB: This is QB Kyler Murray’s team. Period. The Cardinals have brought in QB Drew Anderson to work in training camp and have QB Brett Hundley on the roster from last year as well. QB Drew Anderson is an undrafted Free Agent who was on the practice squad last season. It may be a pretty tight race for the backup QB. Hundley has proven himself in game mode, but if Anderson proves himself, he could save the Cardinals money as the #2. We’ll see, that’s quite a risk.

RB: RB Kenyon Drake is the clear #1. RB Chase Edmonds is a very very capable backup. 7th Round pick RB Eno Benjamin could be a complete steal and will allow Edmonds and Drake to rest.

WR: Wide Receiver is a huge room of talent. The AZ Cardinals need to utilize this position to its utmost. The talent is extreme and available. I am still completely sore at the Cardinals for not drafting WR DK Metcalf (selected by the Seahawks) over WR Andy Isabella. I need to see a LOT from Isabella this year. Let’s start at the top trio: WR Larry Fitzgerald, WR DeAndre Hopkins, and WR Christian Kirk are a dynamic trio that could be the best in the business this year. After that, the talent is available as well. WR Andy Isabella needs to step up and be a part of special teams AND work as the #4 WR and deep deep threat. Teams should be wary of the QB Kyler Murray to WR Andy Isabella duo. WR Hakeem Butler (#18 – 6’ 5") needs to demonstrate he is not dropping passes and can use his large body to catch passes in traffic and put a scare into the red zone. WR Jonnie Dixon (#12 5’-11") from Ohio State, WR KeeSean Johnson (#19 6’1"), WR Andre Patton, WR A.J. Richardson, WR Trent Sherfield (special teams monster!), and WR JoJo Ward will be fighting for a roster spot. Look for the Cardinals to keep 6-7 WR. I would LOVE to see WR JoJo Ward stick with this team.

TE: TE Maxx Williams and TE Darrell Daniels are the top TE on this team. The rest is depth. There is pretty much no fantasy value for Cardinal TE’s unless schemes change.

K: Zane Gonzalez is the only kicker on the roster. I’d snag him. I love a dome kicker!

More news coming from Training camp soon.

Go Cardinals

End.
