Seattle Seahawks July Scouting Report
Rick Watts
7/30/2020

It was a slow July, but it ended with a Boom. Get it? Legion of Boom 2.0 that is. The Jets make the most interesting decisions. In this case they basically negated the value of QB Sam Darnold’s remaining time before he runs away to the highest bidder by trading their best defensive player to Seattle. Welcome SS Jamal Adams and good bye SS Bradley McDougald. I was hoping that SS Marquise Blair would start over McDougald anyway, so Seattle traded away a questionable starter for a Pro Bowl replacement and line him up with FS Quandre Diggs, who was also a steal. Assuming CB Quinton Dunbar does not go to jail this will be one of the best secondaries in the league.

QB-

No news is good news, QB Russell Wilson is ready to go and his value only goes up with the Adams trade.

OL-

No changes to my expectation of a starting lineup looking like:

LT - Duane Brown

LG - BJ Finney (Mike Iupati, Phil Haynes)

C - Ethan Pocic (BJ Finney, Joey Hunt)

RG - Damien Lewis (Mike Iupati, Phil Haynes)

RT - Jamarco Jones (Brandon Shell, Cedric Ogbuehi)

The only opt-out for Seattle so far is OL Chance Warmack who will be missed for depth. All other players are expected to play.

RB-

The Adams trade also increases the value of RB Chris Carson. RB Carlos Hyde is a good pickup for insurance. RB Rashaad Penny will need to earn snaps back from Hyde.

WR-

The WR Josh Gordon watch continues. Gordon should have his suspension lifted any day now and Seattle should keep him. WR Tyler Lockett and WR DK Metcalf are the starters, but Gordon's presence would make them even more deadly.

TE-

Seattle is loaded with TE Colby Parkinson, TE Will Dissly, TE Greg Olsen, TE Luke Wilson and TE Jacob Hollister topping the list.

PK-

PK Jason Myers. Probably not worth more than any other average fantasy kicker.

D-

DE Jadeveon Clowney is still deciding. The Adams trade leaves Seattle with plenty in the coffers to sign Clowney and another free agent defensive tackle. And getting one of the top tables might give Clowney another reason to sign - a great shot at a ring.

LB KJ Wright is ready to join LB Bobby Wagner once again. Seattle has signed all picks including 1st round pick LB Jordyn Brooks who should start.

This could be one of the best Seattle defenses ever.

Go Hawks!

End.
