Miami Dolphins July Scouting Report
David Vohs
7/30/2020

The Miami Dolphins got shut out of the NFL Top 100 players this year (2020). WR DeVante Parker who led all AFC Receivers in receiving yards and Touchdown catches. WR DeVante Parker had 1202 yards last year and 9 TDs. Yes, a bit of a snub.

Beyond that, the Dolphins cupboards appear to be a little bare. But, the Dolphins have some youth to build around after the 2020 NFL Draft.

In the last few weeks, the Miami Dolphins have also made some moves:

DT Ray Smith was claimed from the San Francisco 49ers, waiving CB Ryan Lewis and removing defensive tackle Benito Jones from the COVID-19 list. DT Ray Smith was on the practice squads of the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers. This is a depth move only in my opinion.

CB Xavien Howard was placed on the active /Physically unable to Perform List. There is hope that Howard could get back to Pro Bowl form, but who knows now. We’ll keep an eye on it.

This week, the Dolphins also claimed CB Javaris Davis off waivers from KC. TE Michael Roberts was waived to make the move. CB Javaris Davis is a rookie from Auburn who played alongside Dolphins first-round pick CB Noah Igbinoghene.

On the same day S Jamal Adams was traded, the Dolphins made some minor moves: QB Jake Rudock was released which spells good news for QB TuaTagovailoa. That leaves 3 QBs on the roster: QB TuaTagovailoa, QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, and QB Josh Rosen. I believe the Dolphins must have good knowledge that Tua can throw in training camp or they would have kept the 4th QB. Also, WR Ricardo Louis was released.

Each NFL team will have the option of beginning camp with a limit of 80 or 90 players.

So far, the Dolphins do not have any players (a testament to their youth is my guess) to Opt out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19.

We will keep an eye on the Dolphins camp moves in the upcoming month.

End.
