Miami Dolphins June Scouting Report
David Vohs
6/7/2020

Well, let’s save the best for last. The Dolphins had the draft picks to own this draft and they did a very good job of doing what they wanted with their picks.

In Round 1, the Dolphins took their biggest shot at a future QB when they drafted at #5 overall in the first round QB Tua Tagovailoa from Alabama. This pick is a huge risk, but someone would have snapped him up rather quickly so I think the Dolphins made a very good choice here. After a failed QB Josh Rosen trade, they got a guy with huge upside and huge injury risk. I’d say it was definitely worth the risk. This is a player! The Dolphins then took OT Austin Jackson at #18 in the first round to assist on the offensive line for many many years to come. To finish the first round, the Dolphins took Auburn CB Noah Igbinoghene to add depth to the secondary.

Nine picks later, the Dolphins in Round 2 drafted OL Robert Hunt University of Louisiana and then followed up 17 picks later with DT Raekwon Davis from Alabama.

So, 1 QB, 2 OL, 1 DL, and 1 CB. All areas of need and some of the most important positions in football and the Dolphins have added some great players and depth.

In Round 3 #60 overall, the Dolphins took S Brandon Jones from Texas and then added more depth in Round 4 with OG Solomon Kindley from Georgia.

Round 5 brought 2 more DL picks selecting Jason Strowbridge DE North Carolina and DE Curtis Weaver from Boise State. More talent and depth to the defensive line.

In Round 6 the Dolphins selected LS Blake Ferguson from LSU who will be listed at LB but is a long snapper.

Finally, the Dolphins took a chance on QB Malcolm Perry from Navy. Perry is listed now as a RB but can run, throw, and catch the ball. He could be exciting!

So the Dolphins added a ton of talent and depth and cheap contracts! That should help in Free Agency next year and perhaps some yet this year.

The Dolphins should be an exciting team to watch the next couple years. It will take some time to put this all together but they will have young eager talent all over the field.

End.
