New York Giants May Scouting Report
Tony DeArmas
5/27/2020

Here is the Giants update for May after the completion of the draft:

QB Daniel Jones is expected to make a big step forward after his impressive rookie campaign. If he can fix his ball security issues, he has the potential to be a top 12 fantasy quarterback. QB Colt McCoy provides veteran depth at backup as does QB Alex Tanney but make no mistake, this is Jones’ team.

RB Saquon Barkley should see more running room given the upgrade to the offensive line during the draft. If he stays healthy, he should have a big year and be a top 3 runningback. He is ably backed up by RB Wayne Gallman and 3rd down specialist RB Dion Lewis.

WR Sterling Shepard, WR Golden Tate and WR Darius Slayton are as good of a receiving trio that exists in the NFL today. This group will give opposing defensive coordinators headaches all season long as they each bring different skill sets to the table

TE Evan Engram will be under a microscope this year. The physically gifted player cannot seem to stay healthy for an entire season. Big Blue picked up his 5th year option so he needs to have a big season. If healthy, he is a top 12 tight end with upside.

New DC Patrick Graham got a nice toy in the draft with Alabama S Xavier McKinney. McKinney has a wide skill set and can play in multiple spots. I can’t wait to see him paired with S Jabrill Peppers. CB Deandre Baker is in some legal trouble and may or may not be a factor this season as a result. The Giants drafted a few speed LB’s at the end of the draft to provide edge rushing as well as stout special teams play which is a HC Joe Judge trademark.

That’s it for now. Stay safe!

More to come in June….

End.
