Houston Texans Late August Scouting Report
David Trojanowsky
8/29/2019

QB Deshaun Watson is the only QB news here. He will perform as well as his OL allows.

The OL starts with three guys. C Nick Martin, C-G Greg Mancz and RG Zach Fulton are all vying for time at the center position. Will LT Matt Kalil make the team? If he does, will he be any good? Rookie LT Titus Howard at LG with rookie RT Max Scharping at RG seems to be working out. So is RT Seantrel Henderson. LT Roderick Johnson may become the savior of the OL as the season progresses.

Do the Texans have any worthy fantasy RBs? RB D’onta Foreman was cut. RB Lamar Milleris out with a season ending knee injury. The Texans traded for RB Duke Johnson and undrafted FA RB Damarea Crockett will make the team. If you’re a gambler draft Crockett with your last pick. He’s a big guy who may end up being the goal line back. Expect the Texans to pick upan RB after the final cuts.

WR Will Fuller and WR DeAndre Hopkins are solid. WR Keke Coutee is back to practice. Coutee will be boom or bust.WR Tyron Johnson is an undrafted rookie that looks good. Take a flyer on him if you’re a believer in this O.

TE Jordon Thomas and TE Jordon Akins will make big catches but they’ll also have to block. Between the two of them expect eleven TDs. It’s strictly a guess which one will have the hot hand.

Their best hope for the return game may be with players that will be on other teams cut list this weekend. That includes returners, blockers and tacklers.

Suddenly, the Texans have a DE Jadeveon Clowney crises. He’s playing under the franchise tag this year when he signs. He’s a great team player and a wonderful talent. A great guy! The franchise tag is one of the worse things that the labor agreement has ever created.

With 42MM of cap cash available the Texans could still do some things. We’ll see what the roster looks like next week after the cuts.

End.

Testimonials

"Your site is the real deal. Glad to be back as a premium subscriber!"
-- Aaron R.

"I began using FFM in the late 1990s. For 20+ years they were an extremely valuable resource, as I enjoyed great success in my league during that period. Unfortunately, my league came to an end during the Covid years, and I stopped subscribing to FFM. After a year without Fantasy Football, I started looking into online sports betting and quickly realized FFM could again become a valuable source of information for prop bets on individual players. I resumed my subscription with FFM and have not looked back. FFM is clearly a dual threat; they can severely increase your odds of success in both fantasy leagues as well as prop betting. I almost feel guilty with the tremendous returns I get from such a modest investment in FFM."
-- Sal B.
