Arizona Cardinals Late August Scouting Report
David Vohs
8/31/2018

The Arizona Cardinals finished the pre-season with a 3-1 record and still many questions about this football team. Where to begin?

  • Who will be the cornerback opposite of CB Patrick Peterson?
  • Who is the #2 and #3 WR on this football team?
  • Who will step up on special teams to help replace RB DJ Foster
  • Will the Cardinals actually use the TE position on offense this week?
  • Will this team continue to stop the run as well as they have in the past?

The Cardinals lost the last pre-season game to the Denver Broncos and now have 9 or so days to prep for the Washington Redskins. Usually I’d line up who was going to make this team, but let’s look at who could make a fantasy IMPACT with this team.

QB: I have to believe the Cardinals keep 3 QBs this year. QB Sam Bradford will be the starter, QB Mike Glennon, and QB Josh Rosen will be on this team week 1. I do not know who will be on the active list week 1 but all 3 will be on the team.

RB: RB David Johnson and RB Chase Edmonds will be the top two runningbacks for this team. RB TJ Logan will be the #3 runningback. Lock this kid away in a dynasty league as I see good things ahead for him. I believe the Cardinals will be able to throw a lot of different looks at the league this year with RB David Johnson, RB Chase Edmonds and RB TJ Logan all in the fold. The offensive line looks to have added toughness and grit in the run game as well. I’m assuming most of you in a dynasty league had RB Chase Edmonds drafted in your draft. Watch RB TJ Logan.

WR: WR Larry Fitzgerald is a top WR in the league once again. Period. WR Christian Kirk is going to be the #2 receiver, but who is #3 and for how long? WR Greg Little was promising out of college. WR Chad Williams is in a position to step up, but will he? WR JJ Nelson won’t be a top 3 guy but could add some separation deep. WR Brice Butler has a chance as well.

TE: TE Ricky Seals-Jones, TE Jermaine Gresham Yeah, that’s about it for this roster. I sure hope Coach Steve Wilkes uses the TE position more than for just blocking.

Well, then it comes down to who would I want on this roster?

RB David Johnson (no brainer)

QB Sam Bradford (he could have a HUGE year if stays healthy)

WR Larry Fitzgerald (a top 10 receiver again in my eyes)

WR Christian Kirk (if he can avoid the rookie wall, he could have huge numbers. The best since WR Anquan Boldin).

RB Chase Edmonds - rightful heir to to the RB Starting job.

RB TJ Logan. Logan didn’t get a fair shot last year with his injury. He makes this team and looks good doing it.

Go Cardinals.

See you on Sept 9, 2018 in the stands!

End.
