Cleveland Browns

The preseason hasn’t gone as anticipated as the 0-3 Browns finish out a miserable preseason against the Bears. The offensive line has shown cracks on the right side and gave up a sack to starting QB Derek Anderson that caused a concussion. Then starting WR Braylon Edwards suffered a bizarre injury to his calf when WR Donte’ Stallworth stepped on the back of his ankle in a roughhouse racing contest. Additionally the hot shot fan favorite backup quarterback, QB Brady Quinn, hasn’t set the world afire when he’s gotten his opportunities this preseason. Then RB Jamal Lewis has had a hamstring injury and Pro Bowl KR Josh Cribbs is also out injured. Then the entire defense has been a huge question mark.

Fans have cause for concern but its not as dark as some believe.

OG Ryan Tucker was placed on the PUP list so he won’t miss the season but will be out for, at least, the first six games of the season.

QB Derek Anderson is still being treated with kid gloves so QB Brady Quinn is getting reps with the #1 offensive unit for the first time this preseason and that could pay off down the stretch since he’s getting his timing down with new WR Donte’ Stallworth. They missed badly on their timing in the preseason loss to the Lions but the team played on Monday Night on the road against the Giants and then had to turn around and play on the road against Detroit, meaning that Quinn and Stallworth had only three practices to work together, tops.

RB Jamal Lewis is fine and he’s in tip top condition.

WR Braylon Edwards suffered a surface gash, no tissue or muscle or ligament, etc, damage. He’ll be fine.

KR Cribbs is a concern since he has a high ankle sprain and those can linger but he’s will have three weeks of rest by the time of the first game and backup KR Syndric Steptoe has looked good in his absence.

The defense is the real issue with the team and we’ll look at that next time.

Aspettate fino alla prossima volta... Till next time, Ciao!
