For the June 2008 report, we find not a lot happening as we head into Training Camps next month. In about four weeks or so, the training camps will be in full swing. Their training camp is held at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. There are several outdoor fields that the team will practice on. When inclement weather hits, the Walkup Sydome at NAU has installed new RealGrass Matrix turf that should allow full practices. In the past, the Cardinals had issues with the turf in the Walkup Skydome that caused injuries. The Cardinals would hold walk-thrus instead of actual practices. This should make for a better training camp.

The Cardinals have signed their 5th round draft choice RB Tim Hightower. 7th Round pick OT Brandon Keith has plead guilty to some legal trouble that might put him on the suspension list and will enroll him directly into the review program for the NFL. 4th round pick DE Kenny Iwebema has also come to terms with the team for a 3 year deal.

The major question of the training camp (aside from position battles which we’ll cover next month) is whether or not two of their key veterans will report for Training Camp.

WR Anquan Boldin and DT Darnell Dockett both did not attend voluntary OTA’s last month. Boldin’s holdout has been in the news quite a bit. WR A. Boldin still has 3 years left on his contract at about $3.1M per year. He is unhappy that WR Larry Fitzgerald just got a 4 year $40M contract. I can understand this issue a little, but then again, WR Fitzgerald was a #3 pick and WR Boldin was a high second round pick who signed a 5 year deal two years ago. DE Dockett is another story. He just signed his deal and has 4 years left. I do think the Cards should redo his deal at some point, but both these guys should be at camp. There is no reasonable excuse to miss this season.
